Validos adds legal expertise to open source projects
In Validos we aim to add the legal expertise that might be lacking from open source projects to the open source projects.
Normally this is done towards our members but we also aim to be active towards the open source community. It is in our members' interests if unclear licensing issues are solved with the projects, since then OS software can be used even more often. In a larger scale, it benefits the whole open source community and those using OS software, if projects can fix their own licensing issues. |

Validos is ruled by its members and no single member has a power to make decisions or nominate board members alone. The board is elected by the members of the association. As Validos is a Finnish registered association, its operations are based on the Finnish Assosiation Act 503/1989 and the by-laws of the association. In addition, the board decides on membership benefits and terms. |

The reports and analyses done on software packages by Validos are done in English. The same applies to specifications of validation and other similar documents. In addition the benefits and terms of membership also in English.
The reason for this is that the members of Validos operate internationally and have international personnel and thus the reports and other cumulative material is done in English.
Validos.org will gradually switch to English.

Validos participated in the first Finnish Open Source Meet Up, the Proactum Open Meet Up yesterday 12th May. The event was great, good speach by John Newton (Alftresco) and lot's of discussion on software business and open source.
This First Open Source Meet Up picks up the trail of the Open Tuesday's that had a similar concept.
I deem the first meet op a resounding sucess in wait of the coming meet ups in August and October! |
